Drawings
For the artist, drawing has several roles: conceiving painted or sculpted works through studies and research, but also deploying drawings in series with the status of finished works. Mostly in black and white, but also in full colour, or using colour in highlights.
The creative time devoted to them is often faster than that imposed by painting, giving the artist the freedom and lightning speed of action. It is the breaths and ardours of creation that give rhythm to studio work.

Black Manner & drawn series
Charcoal, graphite, ink. Over thirty years of graphic work.
3 works
The drawn work runs in parallel series, from the early ink drawings to the Final Trilogy sheets. The roll-call is at the foot of this page.
Three finished sheets stand for it here: two compressed-charcoal Black Manner heads and the Five Silver Clones. The rest of the graphic work stays in the studio, where it belongs to the making of the paintings.
